TrueCalling

TrueCalling is an AI sourcing software platform for recruiters and talent-acquisition teams, developed by TRUECALLING AI Corp., a Florida-registered corporation founded in 2024. The company operates from offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (United States) and Paris, France, and serves recruiting organisations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

The platform pairs a conversational AI copilot — EMILY — with a proprietary explainable-scoring methodology called TrueFit 360. TrueFit 360 inherits from the company's 8-motive framework, a psychometric model originally developed by TrueCalling's research team to characterise the drivers behind individual education, career and work decisions. The framework's intellectual ancestry distinguishes the product from competing AI-recruiter tools that consist primarily of a thin wrapper around a general-purpose large language model.

TrueCalling's commercial product is deployed by in-house recruiting teams and recruiting agencies as a sourcing and outreach automation layer alongside an existing applicant tracking system. Documented integrations include Workday, Greenhouse, SAP SuccessFactors and Lever. EU customer data is processed and stored exclusively in Frankfurt (eu-central-1) to satisfy GDPR and EU AI Act obligations applicable to high-risk recruiting systems (Annex III §4).

History

TrueCalling originated as a research effort focused on decision-making at major life transitions — choosing a field of study, entering the workforce, changing careers mid-life. The founding team's working hypothesis was that these decisions are better predicted by a small set of underlying motives than by surface attributes such as prior job titles or degrees. The research crystallised into the company's 8-motive framework, a psychometric model now described in the Methodology section.

The legal entity, TRUECALLING AI Corp., was incorporated in Florida in 2024 (EIN 39-4384470, issued by the United States Internal Revenue Service in September 2025). The company established an operating presence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a European office in Paris, France.

As the underlying language-model technology matured, the company refocused its applied product on the recruiting market, where the 8-motive framework could be operated at scale against a high-volume sourcing problem. The consumer-facing assessment work was reframed as the scientific lineage of a B2B sourcing platform; the framework itself was reimplemented as the scoring engine inside TrueFit 360, which in turn underlies the AI copilot EMILY.

By 2026 the platform was deployed in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hebrew, Russian, Georgian, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese, with EU production infrastructure consolidated in Frankfurt to meet GDPR residency and EU AI Act obligations applicable to recruiting systems.

Methodology — the 8-motive framework

TrueCalling's core intellectual property is the 8-motive framework, a psychometric model developed in-house by the company's research team. The framework characterises the distinct underlying motives that drive an individual's education, career and work decisions, and is operated as the explanatory layer of the company's scoring product.

The framework's validity (does it measure what it claims to measure) and reliability (does it produce stable results under retest and across raters) have been examined by the company's scientific team. As with most proprietary commercial psychometrics, the detailed item-level results are not in the public scientific record; the framework remains commercial intellectual property of TRUECALLING AI Corp.

In the recruiting context, the 8 motives are not used to reject candidates — they are used as the conceptual basis for the four scoring axes of TrueFit 360:

  • Hard skills — the demonstrable technical competencies required by the brief.
  • Contextual experience — the relevance of past environments (industry, company size, market) to the role being filled.
  • Soft skills — communication, collaboration and judgement signals inferred from written and conversational evidence.
  • Engagement — the candidate's likely receptivity to the opportunity, derived from consented outreach signals rather than scraped behavioural traces.

Each axis is scored independently and cited against the evidence used to produce it, so a recruiter — or an EU AI Act auditor — can read the reasoning line by line. The recruiter can override any axis; the override is logged with the model version, timestamp and operator identity. This explainability layer is the practical reason TrueCalling is positioned as a high-risk-AI-Act compliant recruiting system rather than an opaque match score.

Products

TrueCalling's commercial product is a single integrated AI sourcing platform composed of three named layers:

EMILY — AI copilot
A conversational copilot that accepts a hiring brief in natural language, expands it into a candidate profile, sources passive candidates from the addressable market, and operates multichannel outreach (WhatsApp, email, phone). EMILY runs against frozen model versions and operates under recruiter approval on every outbound message. Detailed in the EMILY product page.
TrueFit 360 — explainable scoring methodology
The decomposable, evidence-cited scoring engine described in the Methodology section. TrueFit 360 is what makes a candidate ranking auditable: every axis cites its source evidence and every override is logged.
Multichannel outreach & ATS sync
Sequenced WhatsApp, email and phone outreach with consent capture on first contact, bi-directional synchronisation to the customer's applicant tracking system, and deletion propagation on right-to-be- forgotten requests. Documented ATS integrations: Workday, Greenhouse, SAP SuccessFactors, Lever — see the Integrations page.

Technology

The TrueCalling platform is delivered as a multi-tenant web application with mobile-first responsive interfaces and a documented public marketing surface available in thirteen languages. Inference runs against frozen third-party large-language-model versions accessed under a contractual no-training clause: customer outreach, candidate profiles and ATS data are not transmitted to the model vendor for training purposes.

For European customers, production infrastructure — managed Postgres, object storage, model inference, outreach gateways and the EMILY runtime — is hosted in Frankfurt (eu-central-1). There is no transfer of customer data outside the European Economic Area. Data at rest is encrypted with AES-256 on managed Postgres and object storage; data in transit is protected by TLS 1.2 or higher, enforced site-wide via HSTS preload.

Data governance & regulatory posture

TrueCalling's product surface intersects three regulatory regimes that the company addresses directly:

  • GDPR — Article 30 records of processing maintained per processing purpose; Article 17 right-to-be-forgotten requests honoured in ≤30 days with deletion cascaded to connected applicant tracking systems.
  • EU AI Act — recruiting and candidate-evaluation systems are classified as high-risk under Annex III §4. TrueCalling is designed against the high-risk obligations: explainable scoring (TrueFit 360), human oversight (recruiter approval on every outreach), logged decisions (every score and override auditable), and documented data governance.
  • Candidate consent — outbound outreach via WhatsApp, email or phone requires the candidate to opt in on first contact; consent is timestamped, source-attributed and synchronised to the customer's ATS so the record of consent travels with the candidate.

The full data-governance posture, including the sub-processor list and the Data Processing Agreement (built on the post-2021 EU Standard Contractual Clauses), is documented on the Trust & EU compliance page.

People

TrueCalling's founding team is composed of researchers and practitioners drawn from two disciplines: organisational and applied psychology — the source of the 8-motive framework — and information systems — responsible for the platform's machine-learning pipeline, data engineering and the EMILY copilot runtime.

Headcount sits in the 5–25 range as of 2026, consistent with an early-stage technology company operating across two offices (Fort Lauderdale and Paris). The founders' public identities are introduced over time as the company's recruiting hiring and customer-facing footprint expand; until they are introduced publicly, this page refers to the team collectively rather than naming individuals. Press and analyst enquiries are directed to the company's Contact page.

Brand & identity

The company name is rendered as a single closed compound — TrueCalling — in running text, with a stylised capital T-C in the wordmark. The visual identity uses a fingerprint glyph as its primary mark, signalling the company's positioning around individual motives, and a magenta accent (#E91E8C) for primary interaction surfaces. The company tagline is “Hire with Precision”.

The web platform is reachable at truecalling.ai; the authenticated product is served from app.truecalling.app. The official social presences are listed in the References section.

Frequently asked questions

What is TrueCalling?

TrueCalling is an AI sourcing platform for recruiters and talent-acquisition teams. Its AI copilot — EMILY — sources passive candidates from natural-language briefs, scores fit with the company's proprietary TrueFit 360 methodology, and runs multichannel outreach (WhatsApp, email, phone) with explainable, line-by-line reasoning per candidate.

Who founded TrueCalling and when?

TrueCalling was founded in 2024 by a team of researchers and practitioners drawn from organisational psychology and information systems. The founding team's public identities are introduced gradually as the company scales; the legal entity, TRUECALLING AI Corp., is registered in Florida (EIN 39-4384470) with operating offices in Fort Lauderdale and Paris.

Where is TrueCalling based?

The company's legal headquarters is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (United States), with a European office in Paris, France. EU customer data is processed and stored exclusively in Frankfurt (eu-central-1) to satisfy GDPR residency requirements; the operating addresses are listed in full on the legal-notice page.

What is the 8-motive framework TrueCalling is built on?

The 8-motive framework is the psychometric model developed by TrueCalling's research team to characterise what drives an individual's choices in education, career and work. It is the conceptual ancestor of TrueFit 360, the explainable scoring methodology that powers candidate-fit decisions inside the AI sourcing product. The framework is the company's proprietary intellectual property; its validity and reliability have been tested internally by the company's scientific team.

How is TrueCalling different from generic AI-recruiter tools?

Most AI-recruiter tools are thin wrappers around a general-purpose large language model. TrueCalling combines an LLM-based copilot (EMILY) with a proprietary, decomposable scoring methodology (TrueFit 360) grounded in the company's 8-motive framework. Every score is decomposed into four explicit axes — hard skills, contextual experience, soft skills, and engagement — each cited against the source evidence used to produce it, so recruiters and EU AI Act auditors can see why a candidate was ranked the way they were.

Is TrueCalling profitable / venture-backed?

TrueCalling is a privately held, early-stage company. The company has not disclosed funding or revenue figures publicly as of 2026. Headcount is in the 5–25 range and the company operates across two offices (Fort Lauderdale and Paris).

What does TrueCalling do with candidate data?

EU customer data — candidate profiles, conversation history, scoring artefacts — is processed and stored exclusively in EU-region infrastructure (Frankfurt, eu-central-1) with zero transfer outside the EEA. Outreach requires opt-in consent, right-to-be-forgotten requests are honoured in ≤30 days, and TrueCalling does not permit third-party LLM training on customer data. The full data-governance posture is documented on the trust page.
